TestimonialsDear Mr. Irvin,
In _____s participation in tae kwon do he has learned the importance of self-discipline and respect for others, has improved his self-esteem through hard work and genuine sense of accomplishment, and has shown improved physical strength and coordination through learning the tae kwon do techniques. I also feel confident that ____ is well prepared for self-defense, should that need ever present itself. As a pediatrician, I recommend tae kwon do participation to my families who are looking for ways to increase their child's focus, self-control, and self-defense. Many of my families have found enhancement of these skills through Team Players Tae Kwon Do and instructor Robb Irvin. Instructor Robb Irvin has been a positive force in my son's life.
Excerpts from a letter written by: Tim Teller, Pediatrician Hilliard, Ohio
To whom it may concern, I am writing to convey my utmost respect for Master Rob Irvin for his community involvement. I have seen Rob at all of the local festivals around the community. Then, when my son showed an interest in taking Tae Kwon Do lessons I called Team Players. They are very professional and very concerned about the development of children. So, they offered us a month of free lessons. During this time, I was very impressed with the level of commitment Rob gives to the children. I am a teacher at a local high school and I sponsor an assembly called "On a Roll". When I was looking for a guest speaker, I thought about Rob. I contacted him and he said that he would be happy to speak to our group. He arrived on time and brought an Olympic athlete with him. His speech to our children was fabulous! He was intriguing, entertaining, and very professional. He definitely touched some of the at risk students and even offered them a free month of lessons which could change their lives. Without much notice Rob Irvin volunteered to visit our school, speak to our students about goal setting, and sparked a desire to dream in a lot of students. I appreciate his commitment to helping kids and for being such an active person in our local community. Thanks,
November 8, 2003 Trudy Myers, MPT, LMT To Whom It May Concern: I am writing to share with you, my experiences, both personal and professional, with Team Players Taekwondo and particularly, with Robb Irvin. My relationship began with Team Players nearly 2 years ago when my husband and I brought our oldest son, Noah to see the school based on a friend’s recommendation. We were very impressed with Robb’s qualifications as well as the level of training which his staff receives, so we decided to give the school a try. The challenge, however, lay in getting our shy son to get out onto the floor to participate in class. Because of Robb’s determination to connect with Noah, not only did he participate, but imagine our surprise to see him request to lead warm-up a few months later and our pride in seeing him recently named ‘student of the month’ in his class! I have witnessed a tremendous increase in Noah’s attention span, coordination, and confidence level since his involvement with Robb and the Team Players staff. After watching her brother enjoy his class, our daughter Faith, asked if she could participate. She began the Tiny Tots class at the age of 3, and now, after a year and a half she is in the regular beginner class and is still only 4 years old. It is amazing to me to watch her focus and intensity develop. She has requested extra work from Robb at times and does extremely well during her belt tests. Through all of the improvements that I have seen in my children’s mental and physical abilities, I have become even more impressed with Robb’s abilities. I have never seen anyone who can keep control of a rowdy group of children, teach them about Taekwondo and responsibility to others, and yet make them feel that they are having fun the entire time. Team Players commitment to the community is evident in their participation in local events, especially the safety and self defense seminars they perform. After taking my children to the CAPS seminar this past spring, I arranged to have Robb and his staff come to my daughter’s preschool this year to provide the kids with a mini version of the seminar. I also intend to take the Empowered seminar this December related to women’s self defense. Robb’s genuine caring about every member of his community is apparent. On a professional level, I became more involved with Team Players a little over a year ago by providing therapeutic massage services to Robb and several of his students. I have enjoyed using both my abilities as a massage therapist and my thirteen years of knowledge as a physical therapist, to help the athletes determine the cause of their injuries and prepare them for tournament competition. In the future, I intend to continue to provide massage therapy services, as well as expand to provide physical therapy services as the need arises with Robb’s plans to broaden his offerings at Team Players. Over the past 2 years, Team Players and especially, Robb Irvin, have earned my confidence and respect and I look forward to continuing to support them in their future endeavors.
Sincerely, Trudy Myers, MPT, LMT
I would like to say that I am 100% pleased with this class. Darryl is having a great time and learning a lot of valuable information, not only about self defense, but about self discipline, self control, behavior, and confidence. Darryl never had major issues in these areas in the past, but the class has definitely pushed him further ahead in all of these areas. It’s fun to see him wanting to learn more and more and get so excited about his class. He uses these important attributes at home as well and I am very pleased to see that he is retaining what he learns in class. So, I would like to say thank you to your entire staff. You all do a wonderful job!!
Sincerely, Darryl Mayo

Master Robb: I wanted to take the time to share with you that we made our first trip back to Illinois since Philip started in the Tiny Tots class. Our relatives were amazed at his good behavior and improved self confidence. THANK YOU for all that you do for the kids! It has been a true blessing to our family...Philip has never been a discipline problem, but I only speak once now and he listens! It meant a lot to have my family notice the improvement that my husband and I have noticed for the past several months. We truly appreciate you and your staff at Team Players.
God bless, Laura McKneight
Team Players Taekwondo is improving our community, one person at a time. My son has been a student at Team Players since late September 2001. From the beginning, at age 5, he has been taught honor, integrity, honesty and respect for himself and for others. He has developed a deeper degree of focus and much needed self-discipline. He has learned to defend or protect himself, if the situation ever presents itself, but knows the difference between needing to do so, and when to walk away. He has been instructed to use common sense before self defense, and always stand by the weak, and takes this to heart. His instructor, Robb Irvin, requires these principals not only at Team Players, but insists they continue at home. The development of the whole child, both mentally and physically is included also, by requiring a review of Student Progress Reports from school to insure that children are incorporating these fundamentals in all aspects of their lives. As a Parent Volunteer and past PTO President in his elementary school, I have witnessed these same traits in the other students in the building that participate in this program. I am employed as a classified substitute in the School District, and as I work in other buildings, I meet many children who also are students at Team Players. It is wonderful to see the self-confidence and respect these children also demonstrate. With Team Players teaching over 175 students these principals and life styles, and each of them returning to our schools, their other programs, and our community, the quality of each improves. Team Players, with owner Robb Irvin, goes several steps further by offering other programs to improve the safety and quality of our community. The CAPS program, which teaches age appropriate safety skills and basic technique is offered free of charge to children and families throughout the area. The EMPOWERED program, coming in December will help to improve yet another segment of our community by educating women of all ages on prevention, evasion, offensive and defensive techniques as well as weapons of opportunity. This program will also be offered free of charge. Team Players is a family within our community that I take great pride belonging to, and value the contributions it is making to the Hilliard Community as a whole.

As an active parent/volunteer in the Hilliard City Schools, I have seen not only what Team Players has done for my nine-year old son, but what they have done and continue to provide to the community. Robb Irvin has taken a career that he truly enjoys and continues to give back to the community. His concern about the awareness for safety and self-defense is evident in the Child Awareness and Prevention Seminar (CAPS) that he provides at his school. Many of the children in the Hilliard schools and community have participated in the program and I hear from both the kids and their parents what an outstanding opportunity it was. I have heard from middle school and high school students about Robb’s visits to their schools. My daughter can’t wait to get him to her middle school. It is with much anticipation that I look forward to his EMPOWERED seminar which will provide women the opportunity on how to protect/react and defend themselves against attack/assault. I hope to have EMPOWERED presented at my various organizations, which primarily are female leaders in the community. It will be an excellent chance for women to learn how to prevent themselves from becoming a victim. There has been a wonderfully equipped work-out/weight training area added at Team Players that is a wonderful training ground for many of the local athletes and those from surrounding communities. Team Players and Robb Irvin have the knowledge and outstanding facilities to be a major contributor to the well-being of the residents of Hilliard as well as our surrounding communities.

To Whom It May Concern: We would like to make a few very positive comments about Team Players Taekwondo Center of Hilliard. Master Robb Irvin and his staff have really helped our children grow into better young men. Our boys, Kevin, 13 and Alex, 11, have been taking lessons at Team Players for about 3 years. Both boys have become more responsible, courteous, and respectful as Master Irvin reinforces such traits both within the school and while at home. Both have gained much self-confidence, self-respect, and self-control, as well as have had many positive experiences that they would not have had otherwise. The discipline that is enforced within the school has definitely carried over into their everyday lives. It is not often that you find something that the kids love so much which is also so good for them. They are healthier both mentally and physically than before they started taking lessons. We are usually at the Team Players school several evenings each week and our boys really seem to love the exercise, the staff, and the other young people they meet and workout with each week. Our boys also see a wonderful example of how to give back to their community through many of Team Players programs. Master Irvin truly lives the Taekwondo Philosophy of "Help each other, Be honest, Respect each other, and Always stand by the weak." It is very apparent that he feels that the school is a part of the larger community and that it should help out the community. For example, the school gives many demonstrations throughout the community on personal safety for children, teens, and adults. The entire staff emphasizes the proper use of one's options and skills and making choices to do what it right. Even the school's website, www.playerstkd.com, features a missing children section. We feel that there are very few opportunities in this life that give as much to our children as Taekwondo. Our boys have learned to take care of themselves, and to take care of others, through the dedication of Master Robb Irvin and his staff at Team Players Taekwondo Center.
Sincerely,
Mr. Rob Irvin Dear Master Irvin, I just want to thank you for teaching kid’s how to do Taekwondo. I think you do a great job of teaching kid’s and adults how to defend themselves. I also want to thank you for making a positive difference in my life and in the community. I think it’s really cool how you put so much dedication into helping others. I know the community is a better place with you teaching kids and adults positive and healthy attitudes. I’m very proud to be one of your students. I know by attending your school, I will have a healthy and positive attitude for life.
Sincerely, Nick Berry Ms. Yarletts Class
My son Connor has been attending Team Players Tae Kwon Do Center for a little over two years. He began with Mr. Irvin just a few months after his third birthday. The center has helped expand the skills that we have introduced at home. Connor is developing self-control, shows inner discipline, shows respect for others, and shows honor to others through his interactions, his words and behavior. Being a teacher myself, we felt it was important to help instill these skills that will help lay the foundation for further development which will allow him to be successful in life. Mr. Irvin helps to foster these skills and others. He is truly dedicated to helping young children develop their body and their mind. His interaction with the children is unique. The children respond well to him and will often perform more complex physical and mental tasks than they might encounter on their own. I feel Mr. Irvin is very skilled in the art of Tae Kwon Do and has a lot to share with others. I have enjoyed watching Connor develop new skills and develop increased confidence in his ability to perform. Connor is very excited each time he advances from one belt level to the next. This motivates him and encourages him to work to the best of his ability. We will continue to encourage his participation in Tae Kwon Do and intend to encourage his younger brother to begin next year in the Tiny Tots program. I would definitely recommend this center to other families to help promote very useful skills that can be generated to all aspects of life.
Sincerely,
How clearly I remember those words in November 1995…. “Mom, I think I would like to give Taekwondo a try. This looks like fun!” Stephanie has always been a student who absorbs like a sponge, and it was no different at Teamplayers Taekwondo. Anything she learned was absorbed and utilized it to its fullest potential. This says a lot for her coach, Master Robb Irvin. I attribute all her successes (State Champion Medals, Jr. Olympic Medals, Tournament Trophies and Medals) in the 8 years she has been with this school to Master Irvin. His style of coaching is unique and has proven success! 1997 - “Mom, I want to be an Olympian” – Master Irvin has taught Stephanie how to successfully become who she wants to be, not only in Taekwondo, but also in believing in herself and her abilities to achieve to her fullest potential in all settings! Taekwondo at Teamplayers has truly brought to light those words often heard in Taekwondo: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control and Indomitable Spirit! Present day, July 6, 2003…. “Mom I did so well at the Jr. Olympics! I am now one step closer to my goal of Jr. National Team!” Master Irvin trained and coached Stephanie to a level, which gave me goose bumps! I had never seen our daughter so confident and strong! She now knows the game and commands the ring! Looking to the near Future – 2004 – Attaining the goal of Jr. National Team Member, and the distant future goal of being trained and coached by Master Irvin to Olympic Gold in 2008! Today, July 19, 2003 - Master Robb Irvin – I thank you so much for YOUR Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control and the Indomitable Spirit you have built at Teamplayers and look forward to the upcoming Olympic years!
Sincerely, Deb Hohn – Teamplayers Mom
I consider Robb Irvin to be a member of my family. He has helped me do what is most important to me in life, raise up my children to be physically, and more importantly, mentally prepared to face what life will dish out to them. My son has adored Robb from the moment they met they connected, somehow, and Alex is who he is today (a well-mannered, pleasant, bright, and funny kid) in part due to the many hours he has spent with Robb. Robb has given Alex and Libby things that I could never have given them, tools for dealing with life that I do not possess. I am extremely grateful that we answered the flyer that Alex brought home from kindergarten that said "3 lessons and a uniform for $19.95." Who could have imagined that six years later Tae Kwon Do would be such a big part of our lives? More than I can say, I'd like to thank Robb for being part of "the village it takes to raise a child".
